Who We Are

O blest the house, whate'er befall, where Jesus Christ is all in all!
Yea, if He were not dwelling there, how dark and poor and void it were!

O blest the parents who give heed unto their children's foremost need
And weary not of care or cost. May none to them and heav'n be lost!

Then here will I and mine today a solemn cov'nant make and say:
Though all the world forsake Thy Word, I and my house will serve the Lord.

Evangelical Lutheran Hymnary, #190 v.1,3,5

Welcome! We are the Lutheran Homeschool Association. We’re a group of confessional Lutheran families who homeschool our kids.

Some of us have homeschooled all of our children through all of their school years thus far; some of us have homeschooled some of our children through some of their school years; and some of us haven’t started yet but are thinking of homeschooling in the future. Some of us are homeschool veterans with children who have graduated; some of us are in the thick of it, our days packed with lessons, projects, and life; and some of us are just getting our feet wet reading library books, counting bears, and writing first letters.

We are parents seeking to bring our children up in the Lord to the best of our ability. We understand that can look very different from one home to the next, and from one child to the next even within the same home. We believe that schools, especially our synodical day schools, are great blessings and serve families well. We gladly support them with our prayers and offerings, and many of us do, have, or will enroll our children there for a season. We have great respect for public and private school teachers, and we welcome you to join us here and contribute feedback to our posts.

The purpose of this blog is to share our journeys with one another and to encourage each other in the sometimes difficult but always blessed vocation of parenthood. Blest the House is run by Laura Mears and Amanda Moldstad, two homeschooling moms who co-founded the Lutheran Homeschool Association. The voices you will read here are many more than just our two, showcasing the diversity of perspectives and experiences present among confessional Lutheran homeschoolers.

In addition to maintaining this blog, the Lutheran Homeschool Association also hosts an annual spring symposium as well as occasional social gatherings. Stay tuned for announcements of upcoming events, or contact us to be added to our email list!

We uphold all statements of faith adopted by the Evangelical Lutheran Synod. You can read more about our beliefs here.
